Food energizes, replenishes, and revitalizes the mind, body, and soul.
Here, we provide a list of famous restaurants and diners in the Cleveland metro
area. Use this guide to satisfy your taste buds when either visiting or living
in Cleveland.
Blue Pointe Grille
700 W Saint Clair Ave
Cleveland, OH 44113
216-875-7827
Description: Blue Point lives up to its name -- you'll bathe in blue
inside this Warehouse district establishment. The aquatic aura is
fitting, as sea fare is the restaurant's forte. Oysters and sushi are
among the house specialties. The oyster sampler will allow you to taste
the fine mollusks prepared in a variety of different ways. Sushi, rolled
or nigiri style, will please the palates of those who prefer their foods
uncooked, while the typical seafood fare is available for
traditionalists. Seabass with red curry sauce will delight those looking
for something more exotic, while a straight-laced seafood eater will
like the swordfish, salmon or even the grouper.
Yours Truly Restaurant
25300 Chagrin Blvd
Beachwood, OH 44122
216-464-4848
Description: A quaint, classic local chain, the ambiance at Yours Truly
harkens back to a more gracious era of lavender stationery and white
gloves. The marketing, management and menu are refreshingly au courant,
which is perhaps why this Cleveland-owned septet has endured amid an
ever-growing swarm of national chains. The menu's variety is stunning,
including everything from peanut butter and jelly to char-grilled tuna
steak to a hot Buffalo wrap with tomatoes and gorgonzola dip.
John Q's Steakhouse
55 Public Square
Cleveland, OH 44113
216-861-0900
Description: The name is common, but little else is at John Q's
steakhouse on Public Square in downtown Cleveland. For nearly two
decades, it has reigned as Cleveland's most popular steakhouse, and with
good reason. This is steak as it's meant to be eaten: grilled to
perfection in disgustingly large cuts. If you must have an appetizer --
delayed gratification, perhaps? -- start off with some cheese-stuffed
mushrooms. Then dive into the Major League (20-ounce) New York strip, a
cut of prime rib or the house specialty, the black pepper strip steak.
Swensons
40 Brookmont Rd
Akron, OH 44333
330-665-1858
Description: You don't even have to leave your car to experience some of
Northeast Ohio's best burgers. In fact, you can't. Swenson's is 100
percent car-side service, with serves darting throughout the parking lot
bringing meals to the mobile dining rooms. While certainly qualifying as
fast food in genre, Swenson's fare is far better than that. Its
hamburgers are famous throughout the region. Other goodies, such as
fried mushrooms, onion rings and potato puffs, are also renowned.
Hunan By The Falls
508 E Washington St
Chagrin Falls, OH 44022
440-247-0808
Description: If it's possible for a Chinese restaurant to have an
upscale Midwestern feel, this one's got it. Although this Hunan isn't
exactly right by the Falls -- more like a mile up the road from the tony
Chagrin Falls shopping and dining district -- the feel of the place is
in keeping with classy and relaxed feel of its namesake. Whether you
dine in or order takeout, the offerings are manageable and reasonably
priced.
Fanny's Restaurant
353 E. 156th St.
Cleveland, OH 44110
216-531-1231
Description: Don't expect any new-fangled cuisine from Fanny's
Restaurant. You can expect, however, home-cooked meals that'll fill your
tummy with a touch of blue-collar Cleveland. Fanny's is a second home to
many of North Collinwood's locals, cops, city workers and even a few
politicos. Pull up a chair, have one of Fanny's old-fashioned servers
pour a cup of hot coffee while you ponder the choices: For meat-lovers,
try the juicy patty melt; if you crave the ethnic touch, try the hearty
potato pancakes.
Mustard Seed Market & Café
6025 Kruse Dr
Solon, OH 44139
440-519-3600
Description: Although the Mustard Seed is a health food store, labeling
its cafe a "healthy" restaurant can give the wrong impression. Like its
parent store 30 miles south in Akron, this Mustard Seed Cafe is a
full-service restaurant. (It seats about 190 people.) The "healthy" menu
hardly means everything is cooked in a clear broth; surprisingly, it
includes steaks, ribs, fried entrees and an extensive wine list -- not
all from organically grown grapes and certainly not nonalcoholic. That
said, the meals are made from fresh ingredients and cooked in a
healthful fashion.
Mama Santa's
12305 Mayfield Road
Cleveland, OH 44106
216-231-9567
Description: Mama Santa's pizza has a legendary presence in historic
Little Italy -- patrons will walk by the neighborhood's ritzier bistros
to actually wait in line for one of Mama's homemade pies. The ambience
is super casual and a great place to get in touch with one's inner
teenager -- checked tablecloths and Chianti bottles are the sole efforts
to dress up the wood-paneled dining rooms. Sicilian home-style dishes
include all the staples; fettucini is available with garlic and oil, red
sauce, and a variety of other sauces and toppings.
Marcelita's Mexican Restaurant
7774 Darrow Rd
Hudson, OH 44236
330-656-2129
Description: This wildly popular Mexican spot is both family-friendly
and first-date-worthy. Though it's outrageously busy on the weekends,
the option to while away the time waiting for a table in La Cantina,
enjoying some of northeastern Ohio's most highly regarded margaritas, is
an appealing one. La Cantina also has a glass enclosed patio dining area
with its own charm. For over 20 years, Marcelita's has presented fine
Mexican cooking, including fantastic wet burritos, available with
vegetable, pork, seafood, and beef fillings.
Pier W
12700 Lake Ave
Lakewood, OH 44107
216-228-2250
Description: The interior features a predictably nautical theme, but no
one comes to Pier W to look at the walls. This is a place for gazing out
at the breathtaking lake or skyline views -- or into the eyes of a
dining companion, since Pier W is also known as one of Cleveland's most
romantic spots. The menu constantly changes to incorporate the day's
fresh catch, but some staples include a marvelous scallop fettuccini,
which features an appetizing melange of bacon, mushroom and basil
flavors. The seafood platter includes crab cakes, grilled salmon and
sesame-crusted shrimp.
Ruth's Chris Steak House
28699 Chagrin Blvd Cleveland, OH 44122
216-595-0809

1406 W. 6th Street Cleveland, OH 44113
216-623-0055

440-892-1415
Chipotle Mexican Grill
14881 Detroit Ave Cleveland, OH 44107
216-221-9100

216-522-1510
Shooters Waterfront Café
1148 Main Ave Cleveland, OH 44113
